General usage information

Distributed MultiThreaded CheckPointing (DMTCP) is a tool to transparently checkpoint the state of multiple simultaneous applications, including multi-threaded and distributed applications. It operates directly on the user binary executable, without any Linux kernel modules or other kernel modifications.

This module will add the various dmtcp_* commands to your PATH. It also creates a \"start_coordinator\" alias (C-style shells) or or function (Bourne style shells) useful for starting the DMTCP coordinator in job scripts.

In case you need to link against this library in your code, the following environmental variables have been defined:

  • \$DMTCP_ROOT has been set to the root of the dmtcp installation
  • \$DMTCP_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
  • \$DMTCP_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files

You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):

  • -I\$DMTCP_INCDIR
and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):
  • -L\$DMTCP_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,\$DMTCP_LIBDIR
