General usage information

ecCodes is a library and set of tools for encoding and decoding messages in various data file formats used in meteorology. In particular, it supports the formats:

• WMO FM-92 GRIB edition 1 and edition 2
• WMO FM-94 BUFR edition 3 and edition 4
• WMO GTS abbreviated header (only decoding)

The following environmental variables have been defined:

• \$ECCODES_ROOT has been set to the root of the eccodes installation
• \$ECCODES_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
• \$ECCODES_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files

You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):

• -I\$ECCODES_INCDIR

and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):

• -L\$ECCODES_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,\$ECCODES_LIBDIR
