Overview
This workshop is targeted at new users of the University's High Performance Computing resources (Deepthought2 and Juggernaut clusters), especially those with limited or no HPC experience. This course will introduce participants to the basics of high-performance computing (HPC), and will briefly cover:
- general HPC concepts, terminology, etc.
- accessing the cluster
- accessing software installed on the cluster
- transferring files
- submitting jobs on the cluster
Much of the above tasks will be discussed in terms of the recently added OnDemand web portal for the cluster. The OnDemand web portal offers unexperienced users an efficient way to accomplish most practical tasks.
Prerequisites
None. This is an introductory workshop and is targetted at new users of the cluster, so no previous knowledge of high performance computing nor Linux/Unix is assumed.
System Requirements
As this webinar will be offered via Zoom, you are assumed to have a system (preferably a laptop or desktop) with Zoom installed. You will likely also want to have a modern web browser to look at the OnDemand portal.
Miscellaneous Details
The registration deadline is 13 February 2022; Zoom contact information will be sent to registered attendees the day after the registration deadline.
Note
NOTE: DIT reserves the right to cancel the workshop for any reason with little notice.
