General usage information

The Hierarchical Data Format (v5) is a file format designed to store and organize large amounts of numerical data. This package consists of library routines for reading and manipulating data in this format.

The following environmental variables have been defined:

  • \$HDF5_ROOT has been set to the root of the hdf5 installation
  • \$HDF5_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
  • \$HDF5_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files

You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):

  • -I\$HDF5_INCDIR
and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):
  • -L\$HDF5_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,\$HDF5_LIBDIR${endlist}
