General Usage
FFmpeg is a software suite for handling video, audio, and other multimedia files and streams, inclusing support for command-line-based processing of video and audio files. It is widely used for format transcoding, basic editing (trimming and concatenation), video scaling, video post-production effects and standards compliance (SMPTE, ITU).
This module will add the ffmpeg, ffplay, and ffprobe commands to your path.
In case you need to link against this library in your code, the following environmental variables have been defined:
- $FFMPEG_ROOT has been set to the root of the ffmpeg installation
- $FFMPEG_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
- $FFMPEG_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files
You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):
- -I$FFMPEG_INCDIR
and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):
- -L$FFMPEG_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,$FFMPEG_LIBDIR
