General Usage
GDAL is a translator library for raster and vector geospatial data formats that is released by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. As a library, it presents a single raster abstract data model and single vector abstract data model to the calling application for all supported formats. It also comes with a variety of useful command line utilities for data translation and processing. This module will add these commands to your PATH.
In case you need to link against this library in your code, the following environmental variables have been defined:
- $GDAL_ROOT has been set to the root of the gdal installation
- $GDAL_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
- $GDAL_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files
You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):
- -I$GDAL_INCDIR
and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):
- -L$GDAL_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,$GDAL_LIBDIR
This module will also define GEOTIFF_ROOT, GEOTIFF_LIBDIR, GEOTIFF_INCDIR and TIFF_LIBDIR, TIFF_INCDIR
